Instant Pot French Toast Recipe

You may have made a cinnamon roll french toast casserole or french toast bake, but those can take a long time to make. With the instant pot craze going on, we thought we would try to shorten the preparation time needed for traditional french toast bakes! We love our instant pot and use it for dinners all the time. We have even used it for dessert with our Instant Pot Monkey Bread. The ease and quickness of it are perfect for our busy lifestyle. I honestly had no idea that you could even make french toast in the instant pot! But it is really easy!Feel free to add in some fun additions like pecans, walnuts or chocolate chips! Description

A delicious and simple breakfast casserole that you can prep ahead and then bake the next morning. Each pillowy bite of this souffle-like egg casserole is enhanced with the tangy flavor of sourdough bread

Ingredients
  • 1 loaf Rudi's Sourdough Bread
  • 2 cup colby jack or cheddar cheese
  • 10 oz ham or Canadian bacon (chopped)
  • 1 bunch green onions (chopped)
  • 12 large eggs
  • 3 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.Mist a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray. Pull out 16 slices of bread and reserve the remaining for another use. Cube the bread slices and place the bread cubes in the baking dish.
  2. Top the bread cubes with 1 cup of the shredded cheese, all of the ham, and the green onions; spread ingredients around to distribute evenly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs. Add the milk, salt, and pepper; whisk to incorporate. Pour the egg mixture over and all around the ingredients in the baking dish.

  5. Cover with aluminum foil. May bake immediately or store in the refrigerator overnight.
  6. When ready to bake the casserole, bake (leave the foil cover on), for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup cheese over the casserole.
  8. Bake for another 10 minutes, uncovered. Enjoy warm, and store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
